To ensure the consistent supply of high quality safe drinking water, SA Water considers drinking water quality from catchment to tap in line with our Drinking Water Quality Management System.
This management system is based on the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines Framework for Management of Drinking Water Quality (ADWG 2004), endorsed by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
A high level of water quality is achieved by a strict regime of monitoring and treatment that starts in the Mount Lofty Ranges, River Murray and other catchments and flows through to the taps of South Australian consumers.
SA Water has 20 water treatment plants and undertakes extensive water treatment processes in which water undergoes a mulit-stage treatment process.
